What is Build Week?
Start with a real problem.
Build something that helps.
AI Build Week is a free, 3-day virtual event where people from all backgrounds – teachers, job seekers, community organizers, small business owners – use AI tools to solve a real, frustrating problem in their own lives.
There’s no prerequisite. You don’t need to know how to code. You just need a problem worth solving and the willingness to try.
By the end of the sessions, you’ll have a tangible “learning receipt” – something you built, wrote, or created that you can immediately use, share, or deploy.
The Week at a Glance
What to expect, day by day.
Each day offers optional hands-on sessions and community time. Attend what works for you – and commit to walking away with something you made.
Hands-On Build Sessions
1-2 guided sessions where volunteers walk you through using AI tools for real tasks. Topics: AI for career navigation, teaching, policy, writing, and more.
Saturday Build Sprint
A focused 2-hour session to bring your idea to life – or fork a project from our idea bank and have something working in 30-40 minutes.
Gallery Walk
Share what you built. Browse what others made. Our gallery walks let the community celebrate each other’s work.
Office Hours
Stuck? Volunteers are available for drop-in help. Guided AI prompts from our resource library help too.
What we believe
Our Principles
Build Week is designed around core beliefs about how learning works and what technology should do for people.
01
Learning should be hands-on and relevant.
When you’re solving a problem you actually have, learning becomes meaningful – and the tools you discover stay with you long after the week ends.
02
Learning is better together.
When someone walks alongside you through a new tool, you’re far more likely to adopt it, use it confidently, and keep going.
03
Scaffolding and human presence matter.
Volunteers aren’t just helpers – they’re the heart of Build Week. Their presence and lived experience make the difference between a confused beginner and a confident builder.
04
Design for people, not just for tech.
Every decision is made with your experience at the center. AI is a tool. People are the point.
Our Mission
AI learning that’s human-centered, global, and free.
Build Labs has reached 400+ youth across Jordan, Turkey, Kenya, the US, and China. Build Week is our most ambitious effort yet – a free, global learning event designed to show that AI education can be accessible, practical, and deeply human.
